Im a guy and i have straight hair to my shoulders. My girlfriend keeps asking me to go with her to the salon and get my hair cut in a bob. I love bob styles on girls but do you think i should get a girls bob? She wants me to get bangs too. We have talked about this several times and I havne't given in although I wouldn't mind having a bob i dont want her to think Im toooo girly. She did say once that i would look really pretty and sexy with a bob. what does that mean?

Hello Jamie,

i'm a guy too and had a bob for several years. Sometimes some poeple thought i was a women but just from the behind.
So you can try this maybe you'll find it pretty cool.

But please no bangs. A bob around ching length or shorter can be very stylish at a boy / man but with bangs it's only a girls cut.

So to make a long story short.
Bob is cool, Bangs are only for girls.

So wait a minute...your girlfriend wants you to get a Bob, but you're worried about how she'll think of you if you do? I'm thinking that if she'll find you even more attractive with a Bob, then there you go. It sounds like you may be worrying about something unnecessarily.

As for bangs on a boy, I don't agree. Different hair lines may or may not support bangs. And to some extent that runs down gender lines because of the 'masculine' shape to males' hair lines. But I really don't think males should avoid bangs based on the mere fact that they're male.

Bangs on males are much less common now than they havae been in the past. I suppose if you're paranoid about not 'fitting in' with the Pop Culture folks, you might want to take that into account. Personally, I've never been one for following the herd. But that's just me.

I agree with Laszlo.
As an ex-bob wearing male (zero bangs/fringe though) no need to follow the male 'sheep' when it comes to hair cuts (95% here in the UK seem to be short and spikey!)

I took years of crap from strangers and friends alike: 'you've got a girl's haircut' and later 'Hey!...it's Willy Wonka!'
But, if you can't stand the heat...well...get a 'normal' haircut.
I got it cut when I wanted/needed too.

Even though I needed to get the Bob off (graduated and now freelancing and looking for work!) I merely got it cut around the ears. Have since found out this is a traditional 'Eton Flop' or 'Floppy' originated in the 1940s.
Dated (I like to think 'classic!') my hair may be, but I still haven't sold out completely!

I had almost waist length hair for years. I had it all cut off this time last year to a #2. I've since grown it in to a wedge, with the view to growing it in to a bob. I love the style, it has to be the greatest ever. My girlfriend has a bob now. She will be getting it graduated at the weekend. Can't wait to see it.

By all means get the Bob hairdo. But without the bangs and cut below your jaw line, not too short. Good Luck.

Hi Jamie, I am also male and love bobs, i grew my hair to shoulder lenght a year ago but 6 months ago i took the plunge and had a short concaived bob cut with perfectly straight fringe. I love it and enjoy having it cut every month so just go for it.

Hi Jamie,i'm male and have a chin length bob with a side fringe (bangs) which i am growing out,if you are confident and compfortable with your sexuality or gender there is no reason why you can't have your hair cut into a bob ,you can have your hair however you want, after all it is yours. About your fringe (bangs),if you go to a good salon you will get a fringe cut to how you want it,it doesn't have to look feminine unless you want it to,i wll be getting my hair graduated over the next few weeks and i am also getting a dead straight blunt fringe cut,my wife thinks it's ok. All the best with your bob hair cut!

3 years ago i had my hair to my shoulders. I went to my
stylest and told her i wanted something new. She thought a bob would be fun, i was not sure but before i new it she was
cutting a straight just below ears bob. So scary but fun I
had that and also a buzzed back inverted style for 2 years
I miss the look so much but as many now work will not let me
have long hair. If you havent tryed it your missing out.

Hey , Keaka ! You still can have a bob but you do not know it! Here is why: " You could be a driver for a slut or a transexual slut !" Every job or business has its pluses and minuses. Insults, slashed tires, broken widows... L.A. and Las Vegas have many opportunities. Think part time also. Life is what you make of it! Be careful who you meet. Just watch out for "Starsky and Clutch" types: They do exist !
